The manpower needs of police stations in Western Visayas will soon be beefed up with the deployment of 354 neophyte police officers.
Lt. Col. Joem Malong, spokesperson of the Police Regional Office 6, said yesterday that the 354 police personnel, who graduated from the Basic Recruit Course at the Regional Training School 6 in Brgy. Mansilingan, Bacolod City on Tuesday, will undergo another six months of Field Training Program that is a requirement for permanency in the police service.
Of the 354 police graduates, 290 are males and 64 are females.
Malong said the 24-week intensive and progressive training is designed for newly-appointed police non-commissioned officers to provide them with the basic knowledge and skills in police science, administration, combat operation and tactics. They are also indoctrinated with the norms and conduct required in the performance of their jobs as guardians of peace and protectors of lives and properties, she added.*
