A motorcycle driver was intercepted and arrested Saturday night at a police checkpoint in Brgy. Tabigue, EB Magalona, Negros Occidental, for violation of traffic regulations and RA 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Act of 2002.
Nabbed was Jaymon Gonzales, 35, of Brgy. 6, Victorias City.
Gonzales was initially flagged down by the police for not wearing a helmet.
When he was asked to present his driver’s license, a sachet of suspected shabu was noticed by the police when Gonzales took his cellular phone from his pocket, an EB Magalona Police Station report showed.
The 0.02 gram of suspected shabu taken from Gonzales has a market value of P2,000.
Gonzales is now detained at the EB Magalona police custodial facility.
In Brgy. Sampinit, Bago City, Reynaldo Jimena Jr., 37, was apprehended by the police during a buy-bust operation at Crossing Camatis.
The arrest of Jimena yielded 0.05 gram of suspected shabu, with a market value of P2,000; P500 in marked money, a cellular phone and P44 in cash.
Another buy-bust operation, also on Saturday, in Brgy. 2 Poblacion, La Carlota City, led to the apprehension of Joejit Lansing, police said.
The arrest of Lansing yielded about a gram of suspected shabu worth P6,800; P500 in marked money, P200 in cash, a cellular phone and a Rusi motorcycle.
Meanwhile, two unidentified suspects robbed Rexter Tadios at gunpoint, also on Saturday, along the highway of Brgy. Blumentritt in Murcia.
Murcia police investigation showed that Tadios, who was driving his Kawasaki tricycle, was flagged down by the two suspects, who were armed with a gun and bladed weapons, and took his money.
Before fleeing, the suspects hit the victim with a hard object on his left shoulder, the police said.*
