The Police Regional Office 6 is deploying 298 new police officers for a six-month Field Training Program in various police stations in Western Visayas, including Bacolod City, in Negros Occidental.

Lt. Col. Joem Malong, PRO 6 spokesperson, said yesterday that the 298 neophyte cops, composed of 42 women and 256 men, will be deployed in the cities of Bacolod and Iloilo, Pavia town in Iloilo province, Aklan, Antique, and Capiz.

Malong added that the police trainees will have “on the job” duties to get actual experience and observe police functions, particularly in patrolling, investigating, and traffic law enforcement.

They will be accompanied by their field training officers, who will guide and orient them in actual police duties, Malong said.

The FTP is designed to equip the new breed of cops with the right knowledge, attitude, skills and values that will prepare them once they are assigned to units after their six-month FTP training. P/Brig. Gen. Patrick Villacorte, deputy regional director for Administration of PRO 6, led the send-off ceremony at the PRO6 headquarters in Iloilo City yesterday.*
