Twenty-five members of the Silay City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (DRRMO) team were quarantined yesterday after one of their members tested positive for C0VID-19, Negros Occidental Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz said.

The 41-year-old male DRRMO member is now at the EB Magalona Healing Center and his 25 colleagues have been quarantined at the just inaugurated Silay City Healing Center where they will be swabbed for Reverse Transcription-Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) tests, he said.

If they test negative they will be released from the Silay Healing Center, Diaz added.

Negros Occidental Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson and Silay Mayor Mark Golez led the inauguration and blessing of the Silay Healing Center yesterday that will serve as a quarantine facility for returning Negrenses.

Meanwhile, Provincial Health Officer, Dr. Ernell Tumimbang, said the 24-year-old medical technician from Bacolod City whom the DOH on Tuesday tagged as COVID-19 positive is now quarantined at the EB Magalona Healing Center.

The 24-year-old, who is a member of the Provincial Health Office swabbing team for RT-PCR tests, is asymptomatic, he said.

She could not transmit the virus to the persons she was getting swab specimens from since she was wearing personal protective equipment, gloves and a mask, he assured.

The 30 PHO personnel, especially her co-medical technicians, whom she came in contact with have all tested negative, he said.

Tumimbang said they have informed the City Health Office that the medical technicians family resides in Bacolod City so that they can also conduct contact tracing, he added.

Her relatives in San Enrique have also been isolated, he added.*
