There are now 216 police personnel assigned in Western Visayas who have recovered from Covid-19, as of yesterday, the PNP Health Service said.

Of the 250 police personnel infected, 232 are members of the Police Regional Office 6, who are assigned to police units all over Western Visayas, and 18 others belong to the PNP National Support Units in the region.

The Iloilo Police Provincial Office has the most number of active cases with 28, NSU – Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office – 2, and one each in the Antique PPO, Iloilo City Police Office, and the Regional Police Holding and Accounting Unit.

PNP Health Service records showed that a policeman assigned in Region 6 had died of Covid-19.

NOCPPO provincial police deputy spokesperson, Lt. Abegael Donasco, said yesterday that there is only one active case now, out of the 41 personnel infected by the virus. Majority of the policemen who have fully recovered donated blood plasma to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital in Bacolod City, for use on critically-ill Covid patients.*
