Businessman Leo Rey Yanson was reelected chairman of the board and president of Southern Star Bus Transport. Inc (SSBTI) and Bachelor Express Inc (BEI), respectively, in two separate annual meeting of stockholders, on Jan. 18 and 17, a press statement from his camp said.

This came after LRY was reappointed earlier as chairman of the board and president of the Mindanao Star Bus Transport Inc (MSBTI) during its stockholders’ virtual meeting on Jan. 16 in Brgy. Mansilingan, Bacolod City, Vallacar Transit Inc. media relations officer Jade Seballos said.

Leo Rey was also re-elected chairman of the board and president of VTI, the country’s largest bus company, and that of the Ceres Liner Travel and Tours Inc., in separate stockholders’ meetings on Dec. 5 and Jan. 4, respectively, the press statement said.

Meanwhile, a press statement issued by lawyer Carlo Joaquin Narvasa said that LRY’s brother, Ricardo Yanson Jr., was elected chairman of the board and president of MSBTI on Jan. 16 at Seda Centrio Hotel in Cagayan de Oro City.

Narvasa, who presided over the MSBTI meeting as proxy for Ricardo Jr., said that it was attended by stockholders representing 99 percent of the outstanding capital stock of the corporation.

He added that Roy and Emily Yanson were elected by the shareholders as members of the board of directors, aside from Ricardo Jr., for year 2021-2022.

In the annual meeting of the BEI on Jan. 17, also at the SEDA Centrio Hotel in CDO, Narvasa said that Ma. Lourdes Celina Yanson-Lopez was elected chairman of the board and president of BEI, with Roy Yanson as vice-president for operations, Emily as treasurer and chief financial officer, Ricardo Jr. as corporate secretary, Ana Isabella Galvez as assistant corporate secretary, and him as vice-president for legal.

The new directors of the company vowed to continue court actions to unravel the minority shareholders’ activities and their pretense to act on behalf of the company, despite the absence of any legal basis for them to do so, Narvasa added in the statement.

Meanwhile, the camp of LRY said that matriarch Olivia Yanson was reappointed BEI and SSBTI corporate secretary and treasurer, respectively. Aside from LRY, also elected as members of the board of directors of SSBTI were Ginnette and Charles Dumancas, Olivia Yanson, Arvin John Villaruel, Rey Ardo, Anita Chua, Daniel Nicolas Golez, Hernan Omecillo, Danny Lorenton, and Alfredo Ligo Jr.*
