Two more deaths were reported in Bacolod due to the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) bringing the total number of fatalities to seven.

The death of a COVID-19 patient, a 57-year-old former Army personnel who resided in Purok Kagaykay, Brgy. Banago, has resulted to the lockdown of the area and affected about 13 families. The patient died Sunday while his daughter, a policewoman, is now confined in the city’s quarantine facility.

A 40-year-old construction worker also died recently and was part of the 17 new reported cases in Bacolod that include 13 local cases.

Dr. Grace Tan, spokesperson of the city’s inter-agency task force, said there are portions of six barangays in the city that were also placed under lock down.

These are Barangays, Estefania, Alijis, Handumanan, Vista Alegre, 27 and 29 where close contacts of COVID patients live.

Five members of a family in Purok San Sebastian in Brgy. Sum-aghave also been quarantined after a 20-year-old female family member had been in close contact with a sibling of a bank employee who tested positive for COVID-19.

Meanwhile, the barangay hall and gym of Brgy. 16 were temporarily closed for disinfection after three of its residents have been placed under home quarantine. One of the three had been in close contact with the COVID-19 positive employee from the General Services Office.*
