Two personnel of the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital tested positive of the coronavirus disease 2019, its medical center chief, Dr. Julius Drilon, confirmed yesterday.

In an advisory, Drilon said that both personnel were already in isolation before the release of the results and they have already identified their close contacts and have conducted risk stratification.

Contacts classified as medium to high risk were isolated, he added.

He also said that the hospital is still conducting an intensive tracing for other possible contacts of the two personnel.

Drilon said in an interview with the DAILY STAR that more than 40 hospital personnel were placed under home quarantine, pending the release of their swab test results.

He assured the public that all safety and precautionary measures are being implemented that include terminal cleaning and disinfection of the hospital wards.

This also led to the temporary suspension of services of the hospital’s Obstetrics and Gynecology, Neonatal and General Surgery departments, he said.

He said they lacked nurses at the OB-Gyn and Neonatal departments, adding that disinfection will also be conducted in these areas.

For the General Surgery department, he said they will only receive “extreme surgery cases.”

Drilon said the situation is still manageable even if some of its hospital personnel have gone on home quarantine.

He urged the public not to panic because they are doing their best to contain the virus.

He also asked the public to follow all health advisories and protocols to ensure the welfare, safety, and protection of everybody.

ESCAPE ATTEMPT

Meanwhile, Drilon said a male Covid-19 patient attempted to escape from CLMMRH yesterday but was later pacified following a slight commotion.

“We have to understand the psychological effect of the virus on the patients,” he said.

He said the patient, who is asymptomatic, was about to be discharged but tried to escape as he is worried that he will be transferred to a quarantine facility.

He said the patient was referred to the hospital’s psychological services for assessment.*
