Executive director Em Ang of the Emergency Operations Center said yesterday that, as of Sunday, 148,408 Bacolodnons have been inoculated against Covid-19.

Of the figure, 68,730 have been fully vaccinated, including those who received the single-dose Johnson and Johnson’s Janssen, while 79,670 received their first dose.

On Saturday, Bacolod received 25,000 doses of Sinovac and 585 vials of Pfizer vaccines from the national government, bringing the total number of vaccines shipped to the city to 193,850 doses, including the AstraZeneca and J&J jabs, EOC records show.

These were on top of the 18,700 doses out of the 650,000 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine purchased by Bacolod using local funds.

Meanwhile, the EOC opened its latest vaccination center at City Mall in Brgy. Mandalagan yesterday where healthcare workers, frontliners, senior citizens, persons with co-morbidities, essential workers, and indigent persons were accommodated, Ang said.

Residents due for their second dose of AstraZeneca vaccine were accommodated in inoculation sites at the Education and Training Center School and in barangays Mansilingan and Villamonte yesterday, she said.

Those scheduled to get their second jab of Sinovac vaccine were catered to at the ETCS and inoculation centers in barangays Estefania and Alijis, and that more vaccination centers in Bacolod will be opened once additional vaccines arrive, Ang also said.

Bacolod currently has 32 vaccination centers, including City Malls at Goldenfield commercial complex and Mandalagan, Robinsons Place, Ayala Malls Capitol Central, and SM City Bacolod.

Ang also said that molecular laboratories in Bacolod sent samples to the Philippine Genome Center months ago and that showed that there were other variants of Covid-19 in Bacolod already, except for the highly-contagious Delta that was first detected in India.

90.31% RECOVERY

Bacolod City’s Covid-19 recovery rate, as of August 1, was already at 90.31 percent, with 13,890 out of 15,381 infected individuals having recovered from the disease, EOC records showed.

It added that the death toll was at 363, and active cases at 1,125, as of Sunday.*
