Power outage of up to 12 hours will hit the coverage area of the Northern Negros Electric Cooperative on May 8 and 9, after the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines scheduled an interruption to facilitate the preventive maintenance servicing of its high voltage equipment this weekend.

On May 8, the affected sub-transmission line will involve the Cadiz–Victorias 69Kv, Noneco said in an advisory posted on its official Facebook page yesterday.

The outage will affect the whole coverage of EB Magalona, Victorias, Manapla, and portion of Cadiz, from 6-8 a.m. and 5-6 p.m., the 15MVA Victorias substation that will affect EB Magalona, Victorias, and portion of Manapla, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., and the 5MVA IPI Manapla substation affecting the Manapla Proper, IPI Distillery, and portion of Caduhaan.

On May 9, the line to be de-energized is the Cadiz-San Carlos 69kV sub-transmission line, and will affect the whole coverage areas of Sagay, Escalante, Toboso, Calatrava, and San Carlos, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., the NGCP advisory showed.

Noneco said it will conduct ride-on activities, including the replacement of rotten poles, and deteriorated structures of sub-transmission lines, facilitate the hotspot correction, and conduct preventive maintenance of high voltage equipment in all substations affected.

The Central Negros Electric Cooperative, meanwhile, said that maintenance activities will be conducted on May 8, from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m., to ensure stability of distribution lines and avoid further serious damages that will result in major interruptions, its acting general manager, Danny Pondevilla, said in a press release.

These will include the preventive maintenance servicing of its 30MVA power transformer and to repair hot spot at corner Mabini-Gonzaga Street in Brgy. 26, Bacolod City, line clearing activities and replacement of rotten poles covering the AGF1 to AGF6 feeders.
