The municipal government of Salvador Benedicto in Negros Occidental placed 113 houses in Purok L, Brgy. Pandanon under granular lockdown effective yesterday, after some of its residents tested positive for Covid-19.
This was announced by the town, through its official Facebook account, adding that the granular lockdown will last three to five days.
The move aims to limit the movements of residents while contact tracing is being conducted.
Salvador Benedicto was one of two local government units in Negros Occidental with single digit Covid active cases at 2. The other was San Enrique with five active cases, while Candoni logged zero active case, as of June 8, the Provincial Incident Management Team reported.
Mayor Salvador Escalante also reported that Cadiz City recorded 26 new cases on June 8, bringing to 105 the number of active infections in the city.
The City of San Carlos, that previously topped the list for having the most number of Covid-19 active cases among LGUs in Negros Occidental, logged 39 cases, as of June 8. Kabankalan City topped the list with 159 cases, Himamaylan – 157, Silay – 138, Sagay – 135, Talisay – 134, Bago – 118, and La Carlota – 106.*
