Food assistance to be distributed in Barangay RSB, La Carlota City.*

La Carlota City Mayor Rex Jalando-on has tested negative for COVID-19 but two more city employees, a barangay captain, and some church members have tested positive.

Jalando-on has ordered the lockdown of Barangay RSB for seven days following six more persons, including its barangay captain, testing positive for the virus, Thursday night.

Some members of an evangelical church in Barangay RSB, where a COVID-19 positive asthmatic female in her 60s who has died worshipped, have also been infected by the virus, the mayor said.

The woman who died is from Barangay 3. Her husband and nephew have also tested positive for the virus, he added.

The Barangay RSB lockdown involves 1,000 households who are being provided food assistance by the city government, he said.

The La Carlota City Hall complex in currently also under lockdown after an executive assistant of the mayor, also from Barangay RSB, tested positive for COVID-19.

The mayor said his driver and a clerk at the executive assistant’s office have also tested positive for the virus.*
